FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 14, 2005Klamath Tribes Renew Efforts for Land Return
Chiloquin, Oregon
By Klamath Tribal Chairman, Allen Foreman
“As many people and organizations across the nation know, the Klamath Tribes have been promoting a plan for the return of a portion of our Klamath Tribal homelands, we call this the Klamath Tribes Land Recovery Effort. As we move forward in this New Year and now that the United States Presidential Election process is final, the Klamath Tribes are once again renewing our efforts in this process.
We have been meeting with the Water User groups continuously and this consultation process will continue as long as necessary.
As the Tribe spearheads these efforts it is important for people to understand that there is a lot of mis-information being circulated about our efforts and this process. At this time the Klamath Tribe would like to state that any information produced, unless it comes directly from Klamath Tribal Headquarters, may or may not be accurate. We encourage the press, the community, and our members, to contact the Klamath Tribes directly if you have any questions regarding the Land Recovery Effort.”
