Kla-Mo-Ya Casino, an enterprise of the Klamath Tribes, opened its doors in the summer of 1997. The casino name is an acronym of the three tribes that form the Klamath Tribes: Klamath, Modoc and Yahooskin Band of the Snake Indians. Built over 40 prime acres along the Williamson River, the 15,000 sq. ft. facility is designed to give the feeling of an elegant mountain lodge that blends into the natural surroundings.

Located just 22 miles north of Klamath Falls, at the junction of U.S. 97 and the Crater Lake Highway (see map), Kla-Mo-Ya offers over 300 slot machines and 6 Blackjack tables for its gaming customers. Other amenities include parking for over 400 cars, the Rapids Deli, the Still Waters Buffet, and a non-smoking gaming area.

Since opening, the casino has shown steady growth and now provides jobs for nearly 150 individuals from Klamath Falls, Chiloquin and surrounding areas. Of this number, over 60% are members of Klamath , or other federally recognized tribes.

Kla-Mo-Ya Casino also contributes to Klamath County's economic well-being in other ways. Goods and services purchased by the casino for daily operations and improvements benefit numerous local businesses. And, through sponsorships and donations, the casino contributes thousands of dollars annually to charities, youth groups, schools, and Native American and local events such as powwows, rodeos, car shows and parades.

The future holds even more promises as plans are being made to expand the existing casino facility and increase the number and variety of games offered to guests. Other proposals include a hotel, recreational vehicle park, and truck stop. Indeed, as these plans are initiated and realized, Kla-Mo-Ya Casino will acquire a reputation as a premiere destination resort in southern Oregon. Only a short distance from spectacular Crater Lake and the nearby Williamson River, this area offers excellent fishing and world-class hunting. Also available are a variety of winter sports, from downhill and cross-country skiing to snowmobile trails that allow visitors to fully appreciate the Oregon forest lands, and the scenic beauty of the Cascade mountain range.

Kla-Mo-Ya Casino continues to build a strong foundation in helping to create tribal economic self-sufficiency. With each year, the number of visitors and casino revenues steadily increase, and this year will be no exception.
